An old favorite brought back by a new friend! Great Plains
Brewery is pleased to announce the reintroduction of Pony Express Tornado Red Ale. The first tap of the award winning ale was drawn on Monday Aug. 23, 2004 at Arrowhead Stadium when Kansas City got its first taste of the year's winners--Tornado Red Ale and The Kansas City Chiefs. Tornado Red Ale was the recipient of the Silver Medal for Red Amber Ale at the Great American Beer Fest in Denver Co. Retired by the Pony Express Brewery shortly after its introduction, Tornado Red Ale is being reissued by the new parent company. Great Plains Brewery because it is, plainly said, "a great red ale."
The Red ale enjoyed a great following because of its reputation as a superior quality handcrafted ale that satisfied discriminating tastes. Great Plains Brewery acquired Pony Express Brewery in 2003 and determined
that Tornado Red Ale met the right standards it takes to be a Great Plains beer and that loyal customer base would welcome its return. Tornado Red Ale will be distributed in both Kansas and Missouri by the local Miller Beer distributors
to neighborhood pubs through out Kansas City.
Great Plain Brewery is part of TransCon Ag. A new generation co-op with Missouri and Kansas farmers making up the co-op. all the ingredients that go into the production of Great Plains products are grown and distributed by the co-op members. Quality is the overriding concern from the first
planting through out the production o process. The result is a beer that reflects the Mid American pride of its producers, and when it comes to taste…it shows!
